Bastien Vieublé
Postdoctoral Researcher
Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science,
Chinese Academy of Sciences,
Haidian District,
Beijing, China.
I received an M.Sc. in applied mathematics and computer science from ENSEEIHT (french engineering school) in September 2019.
I completed my Ph.D. thesis (Sep 2019 - Nov 2022) in the APO team at Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT) under the supervision of Alfredo Buttari and Théo Mary.
I was a Research Associate in the Numerical Linear Algebra Group of the University of Manchester working with Professor Nicholas J. Higham.
I am now working at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing under the supervision of Professor Xin Liu.
I have strong ties with MUMPS Technologies with whom I collaborated and will continue to collaborate on the improvement of the the MUMPS sparse direct solver.
My research interests cover various topics related to linear algebra, mixed precision, approximate computing, sparse direct and iterative linear solvers, and high performance computing.

| Feb 04, 2026 | CALL FOR PARTICIPATION at JULIACON and ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: Jonas Schulze and I are organizing a minisymposium on Approximate Computing in Numerical Linear Algebra which will be held during JuliaCon, August 10-15, in Mainz, Germany. The main purpose of this minisymposium is to provide a space where people can share and talk about the newest Julia software developments in approximate computing for numerical linear algebra (and beyond). We wish to promote Julia as a tool for driving advancements in approximate computing and highlight the latest exciting Julia packages in this field. Lastly, we would like to end the minisymposium with a panel discussion around the development of an approximate computing ecosystem in Julia. Registration is required for participation.
